As we approach spring in Tampa Bay the way in which we fish changes from the backwater creeks and canals to the grassy flats and mangrove shore lines of Tampa Bay. The waters are warming up and the Snook, Red Drum and Speckled Trout begin to surface back out on to the flats. During the springtime the low tides in Tampa Bay are still extremely low and make it a challenge to fish on the flats. When the tides are low this is the time to target those drop offs and key into where the fish are traveling on and off the flats. Doing this will help you target them during the high tides when they move onto the flats and out of the deeper water. Fishing Tampa Bay in the spring comes with great weather and some great fishing.
